From the Pastor’s Desk

We at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church have been very active upgrading our church property, reaching out to our neighbors in friendship and with God’s Word and offering help to those in Chester County who are struggling.

In our sanctuary we now have lights that brighten the church beautifully and wiring that meets the professional codes of today. Some of the wires removed had large bare spots; a real fire hazard. Outside we added a Gazebo, landscaping and some dogwood trees. We have already made some use of the gazebo for outside worship and it will become a nice place for wedding pictures in the future. We received township approval for our new sign and we hope to have it built this year. This has been a long process. The Property Committee is investigating additional work projects to further improve our church for 2008.

While I have done a lot of door-to-door visiting without much of a response from those visited, we continue to receive visitors to St. Peter’s. They are welcomed and I am happy to say that many return again and again to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ and share in the fellowship. Many become members. A highlight for me each Sunday in worship is the Children’s Message. Six to ten children come up to the front of the church each week to talk with me about God and Jesus. We have great kids and some are not afraid to say that they never disobey their parents. After the Children’s Message the children participate in our Sunday School program. This is a growing program and we have been working real hard to expand our ministry to young families.

PACS, Mom’s House and St. Mary’s Shelter are just a few of the places that we have helped in 2007; they are just a few of those that we plan to help in 2008. We regularly plan canned good collections and organize fund raisers to help these agencies. One project now in the works is a cookbook that will include recipes designed to use many of the foods given out by PACS. The cookbooks will be given to the families who go to PACS for help. Sharing God’s Love with others is a joy.

As pastor, I would like the ministry of St. Peter’s to center on the Word and Love of God in Jesus Christ. St. Peter’s is definitely on the right track. Our doors and hearts are open to any and all who would like to join us in sharing the Word and Love of God.
